Location & Time
The training workshop will be held from 8am-5pm at the following location:

Workshop attire is casual to business casual (jeans being acceptable). Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably. Layering is also suggested as the temperature inside the workshop venue may vary between meeting rooms. Please prepare for the weather by dressing appropriately and/or bringing an umbrella if necessary.

Scholars and Storyteller

Travel logistics differ based on your location. Click the correct tab below for your travel information. If necessary, you may need to contact your state project director for travel information.
Metered parking may also available on the streets surrounding the workshop venue. The LEH will reimburse participants for an 8 to 10-hour period.
Participants from Louisiana sites traveling a distance greater than 20 miles from outside the metropolitan New Orleans area will be reimbursed at a rate of 40 cents per mile. This is to be recorded on the LEH Travel Expense Report, where you will also record your parking expenses and attach any applicable receipts. We request that participant’s carpool on the drive to New Orleans to reduce mileage expenses. Please make travel arrangements with others from your team. TravelExpenseReport.pdf
Travel Expense Reimbursement
Eligible mileage and parking costs should be reported on the TravelExpenseReport. Please read the Travel and training information sections for details on reimbursement limitations and plan accordingly. Please note that the information below is for Louisiana residents who live 60 miles or farther away from New Orleans.
The LEH will reserve rooms for qualifying Louisiana participants at a nearby New Orleans hotel for Friday. The charges for this evening will be covered by the LEH. Details on the hotel as well as a confirmation number for your reservation are sent via email.
Hotel Cancellation Policy
Your room was paid for in advance by the LEH. If, for any reason, a cancellation must be made, notice to the PRIME TIME staff must be provided within 96-‐‑hours/4 days of the check-‐‑in date/time. If sufficient notice is not provided, you will be expected to reimburse the LEH the night’s revenue of room and tax.
The LEH provides meal allowances for participants from Louisiana. This allows a maximum reimbursement of $20 per dinner on Friday and Saturday. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided during the workshop on Saturday. TravelExpenseReport.pdf
If necessary, hotel parking will be available at a nightly rate. The LEH will reimburse for one 24-‐‑hour period only. Remember, carpooling will help minimize such costs. A few LEH spaces (marked “Reserved”; #70-‐‑97) in the parking lot behind Turners’ Hall will also be available at no cost and on a first-‐‑come, first served basis. Please note that the information below is for OUT OF STATE trainees.
Participants must make their own travel reservations to New Orleans. Please contact your sponsoring agency for details on allowable travel expenses and procedures.
Participants should make hotel reservations at the Drury Inn & Suites New Orleans for the training. The LEH has negotiated a reduced rate at this hotel. Participants or representatives of the sponsoring agency should contact their state director for the booking code. Those who intend to stay at the Drury Inn & Suites New Orleans will need to contact the hotel and reserve accommodations 90 days before the event. After this time the hotel will release any excess rooms to the public. We recommend taking advantage of the Drury rate and booking 90 days before the event as availability tends to be low and rates tend to be high throughout New Orleans.
Check in time at the Drury Inn & Suites New Orleans is at 3:00 p.m. If you arrive early, some rooms may be ready; but if your room is not ready secure luggage storage can be provided by the hotel. Checkout time is at 11:00 a.m. Requests for a late checkout (up to 1:00 p.m.) can be made, but the hotel cannot accommodate the entire group in this regard. Incidental charges such as phone calls, movies, gratuity for services, etc. are considered personal and must be covered at your own expense. Please note that there is a short walk (1-2 city blocks) through the New Orleans Central Business District (CBD) between the hotel and the training workshop venue (see walking directions/hotel details). See attached hotel details for more information.
Hotel Cancellation Policy

The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast buffet and evening snacks/drinks for guests. Lunch and snacks will be provided during the workshop.
If necessary, hotel parking will be available at a nightly rate. A limited number of parking spaces are available behind the LEH building. The LEH spaces (marked “Reserved”; #70-‐‑97) will be available on a “first come, first serve” basis on Saturday at no cost for driving participants who are not staying at a hotel. Other spaces (yellow) in this lot are privately owned and are not available for use. Drivers who do not find parking at the LEH must search the parking lots near the building; rates vary.
